Home grown

We have a very small vegetable garden. We've always planted tomatoes, but this is the first year we thought to try lettuce. It's so exciting to see how much lettuce we've grown, and it's even more delicious than it looks. I wish I had more time to take care of a full garden of fruits and veggies. Maybe one day ...

Handpainted sinks and other colorful things from Playa del Carmen

We just came back from a family vacation at The Grand Mayan in Riviera Maya just outside of Playa del Carmen, Mexico. Say that three times fast!!! The resort was absolutely top notch, with a lush, tropical setting and delicious cuisine. We only chose to leave the premises one day, when we took a cab to the "Fifth Avenue" of Playa del Carmen. Not quite as luxurious as New York City, but it certainly made for a nice afternoon. There were so many different things to look at, I just thought I'd share a few of them here.

Aren't these handpainted sinks just beautiful?

This one would be perfect for a sunflower lover.

This colorful swing is the epitome of relaxation, don't you think?!

This handmade stained glass sitting atop a fountain was quite the focal point.

A pirate ship sticking out of a restaurant. Clever!

The most fashionable skeleton I've ever seen!

"Jelly fish" lanterns. Quite cute!

Color Trends for 2012

As a decorative artisan, I am always inspired by color.

The Color Association of the United States (CAUS) forecasts in four categories: Women's, Men's, Youth and Interiors/Environmental. They have determined that there are three trends, all of which emphasize a down-to-earth lifestyle.

The name of this one captured my senses -- Confection. Don't these colors look yummy??!!
The color chart and pictures are taken from their website. Enjoy!!
