Bathroom Makeover at The Seasons

I had the great pleasure of working in a beautiful adult community, The Seasons at East Meadow, Long Island, NY. I was surprised to see how spacious the units are, with great layouts. The clubhouse is to die for! Downsizing is sounding better and better.

The bathrooms are done very nicely. However, as you can see, the walls are very drab. My client had great style and taste, and I worked off the colors in her adjoining bedroom to design and create this finish. It consists of layers of metallic plasters, applied in a vertical fashion.

With the walls dressed up, I'd say it is now a stunning bathroom. Wouldn't you?

I love to do switchplates in the same finish, so they just blend into the walls, rather than stick out like a sore thumb.

Every once in a while, I have the pleasure of working on projects at my home studio. This was one such occasion. But instead of freeing some days in my schedule to work on it, I made things more difficult for myself by doing it at night over a few weeks, after painting at a client's home all day. I'm pleased with the way it turned out, but the real test will be when my clients see it. Once it's installed, I'll go there and take a picture.

Art Expo NYC

Once again my eyes had an incredible feast at the Art Expo in New York City. This is one of the perks of living in New York that I make time to take advantage of. The above paintings are from Shinn Fine Art, a gallery in Annapolis, MD. This is just a sampling of what they offer. Their website is www.shinnart.com. Be prepared to spend lots of time browsing if you're an art lover.

Can you believe this is a sculpture??!!!

I was totally fascinated by these creations. The artist had a swarm of people around him, so I didn't get a chance to chat.
