I am so excited to say that I have been voted Second Place "Best Artist of Long Island" 2012 by readers of The Long Island Press.
For 2010 and 2011, I came in First Place. What a great honor to have my work recognized in this capacity. I LOVE what I do, and I guess it shows in my work!!

Special Project on Ceiling
This was such a special project I did for a great client. Above her octagon-shaped dining room table, she created this octagon ceiling. She asked me to paint an outdoor scene with branches and leaves. She had asked me to paint a red robin somewhere on the side. Her dad, who had passed away, always told her that when he was gone, every time she saw a red robin, it would be him looking down upon her. She now feels her dad's presence every day in her home, looking down upon her.

Better Home & Gardens - 9 Designer Color Palettes
I just stumbled upon this wealth of colorful eye candy. If you go to this link, and then click on each of the nine color palettes, it will take you to that designer's website or blog. Trust me, you can spend sooooo much time on all of them. Enjoy!!

AFTER pictures of NYC exterior mural
Well, I finally remembered to post some pictures of the exterior mural I did over the summer in Manhattan. We recently went to the city to see the 9/11 Memorial, and when I looked up, I was amazed to see this very terrace where I worked, 34 floors above ground. It was only then that I realized just how high up I really was!

Annie Sloan Chalk Paint
This is the BEFORE. My client had an old hutch cabinet, and wanted to give it a weathered look.
What normally would have taken several days with other lines of paint, I was able to accomplish in an afternoon. With Annie Sloan Chalk Paint, there is NO NEED TO PRIME!!! That's right, you can paint right over furniture. It can be rolled on, or brushed on, depending on the look you're trying to achieve. The colors I used were Old White, and Graphite.

I'm back!
I promised myself that I wouldn't start blogging until I could commit to it on a regular basis. Well, we all know how life just gets in the way sometimes.
Since my last post, here on Long Island we've survived Hurricane Irene and an earthquake in the same week! There was a lot of devastation from the storm around us; in some local neighborhoods, there were homes that had several feet of water in the house. And others on the same block were perfectly intact. It was just so random, and inexplicable. For us, the irony is that although we were spared from the storm, our washing machine hose broke and we wound up with a flood in the basement anyway!! We just finished checking in with all the neighbors to make sure everyone was OK, and then we had to come outside running and asking for ShopVacs! And the week before Irene, my daughter's basement flooded, and two months later, we are still helping her try to put it back together.
Needless to say, everything else had to be put on the back burner. But I am trying to get back into the habit of blogging, so here we go. One of these days I will take the time to learn how to design this better, so I can add more features, and sections to talk about things other than painting. But for now, I just want to stay in the habit of blogging!
